What happens to the original role when I clone it?
Nothing changes; the original role remains intact. The cloned role is independent and can be modified without affecting the original.

Yes. After cloning, you can edit the role name and update its permissions. The cloned role is independent from the original.
Who is allowed to clone roles?
Resources with the Settings > View and Edit Roles permission can manage or clone roles.
Will resources automatically get assigned to the cloned role?
No. Cloning creates the role template only. You must manually assign resources to it from the Resources page or through each Resource’ss right side panel.
Does cloning a role copy all permissions, views, and resource restrictions?
Yes, all permissions are copied (Planning, Projects, Time, Expenses, etc.) including scope levels (Me, Team, Company). However, resource assignments are not copied.
Can I clone roles across different companies or organizations?
No. Roles belong to a single company workspace. To replicate a role in another workspace, you’ll need to recreate the settings manually.
Are there limits to how many roles I can clone?
There is no system limit. However, having too many roles can make administration confusing. It’s good practice to periodically review and consolidate roles.
Does cloning a role affect existing permissions or scheduled data?
No. Cloning only creates a new template. Existing resources, schedules, and projects are not affected.
How do roles interact with views and schedule visibility?
Roles set the maximum permissions a resource can have. Within that, views can further restrict visibility by scope (Me, Team, Company). When you clone a role, these settings are copied too.
How do I see which permissions a role includes?
From Settings > Roles, click on the role name to open its details. You’ll see a breakdown of permissions by module (Planning, Projects, Time & Expenses, etc.) and their levels.
Will cloning a role copy custom reports?
No. Reports are stored separately from roles. Cloning a role will not clone saved reports. It only controls access to reporting pages.
