How do I clone a role?

Description 

Cloning a role allows you to quickly duplicate an existing set of permissions and create a new role with minimal setup. This is useful when you need a role similar to an existing one but with small adjustments. Instead of building a new role from scratch, you save time and reduce the risk of missing a permission. 

How it works 

  1. Go to Settings > Roles
  2. Locate the role you want to duplicate. Hover over it, a Clone button appears. 

  3. Click the Clone button. Beeye creates a new role with the same permissions and a “Copy” suffix in the name. 
  4. Edit the cloned role
  5. Change the role name to something meaningful (e.g., Staff– Office A). 

  6. Adjust any permissions (e.g., change “Edit Project” from Team to Me). 
  7. Save your changes. 
  8. The new role will now appear in the list and can be assigned to resources. 

Pre-requisites : 

  • Permissions required:  Settings > View and Edit Roles 
  • Data required: At least one existing role must be available to clone.
